The super bloom of 2017 in California has been a unique experience for many. This has created an interaction between people and wildflowers. The California State park of Carrizo valley had to be temporally closed do to all the visitor trampling on these wildflowers in order to get the “perfect shot” to post on their social media page. This piece is not intended to villainies these particular individuals but to study the modern interaction of social media and nature. It’s interesting to see people’s desire to connect with nature while simultaneously destroying the very thing they want to connect with. Perhaps the constant access to social media and the temptation to boost ones image is causing us to exploit nature in a whole new way rather than enjoy and respect it?
